Q&A: Meet the candidates for Texas House of Representatives District 148

Why are you running for this position?<br>

Born and raised in 148, I want the district to fulfill its highest positive potential. The district’s current infrastructure is not being utilized; obvious job creation is ignored; living costs are too high compared to the return of quality public services. My family, friends and neighbors deserve better!

What would your top priorities be if elected?

Water- bringing the shortage of fresh water to the front of discussion. Data Centers- safeguarding our essentials: electricity, land, and water. Public Education, collaborate with businesses and schools to increase head start programs. Local Careers- creating long-term local jobs, systematically cultivating aesthetic, and economic growth within the district and state.

What are the biggest challenges facing this district?

Public Safety- exponential increase of minors being sex-trafficked; trafficking combined with violent crimes. Flooding- The lack of natural water retention locations, placing risk of residential and commercial flooding. Abandoned and deteriorating commercial infrastructure – shopping centers, malls, office buildings; all abandoned concrete structures increase to both Public Safey and Flooding problems.

What will you do to support small businesses and promote economic growth in Texas?

As a small business owner, I will support policies requiring local government projects to hold fair competitive bids for smaller vendors. Ensuring companies of various sizes to be considered for contract services and creating more market competition, bringing contracts promoting small business growth.

What do you see as the greatest challenge for the Cypress, Cyfair, Spring/Klien area in the next 5 years?

The unknown effects of Data Centers; we need reassurance, appropriate incentives, and proper compensation from the Data Center corporations. Establishing a long-term plan proposing agreements for companies to enhance our community, supporting funding for public education, securing local job opportunities, and ensuring safety protocols.

Why are you running for this position?

I have had the privilege of serving 200,000 Houston constituents since 2021. Now more than ever, we need a government of integrity focused on the people of Texas. I work to create good policy to improve the quality of life for every Texan. That means safety, certainty and prosperity.

What would your top priorities be if elected?

Issues that impact my constituents the most are my priorities. Cost of living, safety, protecting public schools, creating good jobs, good workforce training programs, infrastructure and flood protection, reducing rising insurance costs, providing universal healthcare, helping students graduate college, helping working families earn liveable wages, and affordable safe housing.

What are the biggest challenges facing this district?

My constituents have shared their concerns about flood vulnerability, affordability, intrusion of privacy (unwanted Flock cameras), underfunded neighborhood schools, lack of healthcare access, air and environmental pollution, aging infrastructure and roads.

What will you do to support small businesses and promote economic growth in Texas?

I will support workforce retraining programs for new technology jobs, incentivize entrepreneurial growth through grant funding and tax relief, and support subsidized skilled trades apprenticeship programs to build a skilled trades workforce.

What do you see as the greatest challenge for the Cypress, Cyfair, Spring/Klien area in the next 5 years?

Keeping pace with expansive growth in population and the growing demands for jobs, privacy, safety, quality education, affordable housing, reliable energy, sound infrastructure, and clean natural resources.
