Elected in a unanimous vote at the May 13 City Council meeting, council member Connie Rossi will serve as the mayor pro tem in the case of Mayor James Singleton’s absence.
This role was previously held by council member Michelle Martin.
The details
The vote follows after new council members Michael Brittain, Brian McCauley and Rossi, who was reelected, were sworn in at the meeting.
“Everything that I’ve been to as current mayor pro tem, Connie’s been right by my side,” Martin said. “Her energy and exuberance and passion for the city is second to none, and I really think it is time to pass the baton."

Council members voted unanimously to amend the fiscal year 2025-26 general fund budget in revenues and expenditures to account for a $20,000 grant intended to advance youth sports initiatives from the National Recreation and Parks Association.

The grant could potentially cover seven to nine youth sport seasons, Basford said, and they plan to partner with youth sports organizations in the future to continue running the program without financial cost toward the city.
