The Harris County Emergency Services District No. 9 board of commissioners is scheduled to discuss the November commissioner election and the property tax rate June 25.
Harris County ESD 9 serves as a political subdivision and taxing entity that supports fire suppression and emergency medical service operations for Cy-Fair Fire Department.
What you need to know
Three seats of the dais of five will be on the ballot in the upcoming November general election. Those three seats are currently held by Commissioners Cameron Dickey, Rob Paiva and Naressa MacKinnon, as previously reported by Community Impact.
With the district’s fiscal year 2026-27 budget adoption approaching later this summer, the board of commissioners will continue discussing the process of setting the property tax rate.
At the May 28 meeting, the board of commissioners approved for the Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector’s Office to prepare the district’s no-new-revenue tax rate, and other tax rate calculations for the upcoming fiscal year. In April, the commissioners discussed increasing the homestead exemption to 20%, but the change was not approved, as previously reported by Community Impact.
Also on the agenda
Reports regarding construction updates on services provided by two architect firms will be presented at the meeting.
Construction broke ground in April on Station 15 in Settlers Village in Katy, as previously reported by Community Impact. Additionally, the upcoming Station 17 in Bridgeland is expected to break ground this fall, and they're in the process of remodeling an existing dispatch center on Wheat Cross Drive.
