Coppell
Early election night results show a majority of Coppell voters cast ballots in favor of the city’s sales tax reauthorization.
With 216 out of 468 precincts reporting in Dallas County and all precincts reporting in Denton County, about 79% of Coppell voters were in favor of the sales tax reauthorization. That translates to 1,055 votes for and 281 votes against, according to Dallas and Denton County election departments.
The sales tax revenue goes to the city's street and sidewalk repair fund. Voters originally approved the quarter-cent sales tax for street and sidewalk repair in 2007.
That means Coppell shoppers will not pay any extra in sales taxes if the rate is reauthorized. A vote for the proposition would keep the sales tax in place, and a vote against would remove the tax.
