The latest data release from the 2018 American Community Survey shows that population is not the only thing increasing in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The median household income, uninsured rate and educational attainment level of the Metroplex all saw gains between 2017-2018 in the four central DFW counties—Collin, Dallas, Denton and Tarrant. The latest data release includes one-year estimates for 2018.
Population
Collin County hit a milestone in 2018 by surpassing 1 million people, according to ACS data. Collin also saw the largest percentage growth of the four, increasing by 3.67% between 2017-2018. Dallas County has had more than 2 million people for some time, but it saw the smallest percentage growth year over year, growing by less than 1%.
Median household income
Though it had the lowest median household income of the four counties, Dallas County saw the largest increase in its household income, growing by 5.50%. The county's median household income increased from $56,718 in 2017 to $59,839 in 2018. Those numbers, however are still lower than the state median incomes in 2017 and 2018. The other three counties' median household incomes were above the state average. Of the four counties, Collin County has the highest median household income at $96,051.
