René Galvan was appointed the new CEO and president of the Houston Association of Realtors in February, as previously reported. Galvan succeeded Bob Hale, who retired Jan. 31.
In an interview with Community Impact, Galvan discussed his background, what HAR does and the real estate market in the Greater Houston area. This interview has been edited for length and clarity.
Can you speak a bit about your professional background?
I’ve been with HAR for nearly 30 years, serving as executive vice president since 1998 before becoming the president and CEO in February. I have a background in accounting, with a degree from The University of Texas at Austin, and I’m a certified public accountant.
