Montgomery County commissioners will meet April 23 in two separate meetings to discuss new flood mitigation assistance funding as well as projects to include on the proposed November bond issue.

The regular session of Commissioners Court will begin at 9:30 a.m. April 23, and it will include the discussion of a $13.7 million flood mitigation grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to allocate towards hydrology and floodplain studies for the county. The study will result in a final project list regarding potential projects eligible for further flood mitigation efforts, according to county documents.
Under the consent agenda, Precinct 3 Commissioner James Noack is also seeking approval to send a letter requesting the removal of the proposed Research Forest Drive widening project from the Houston-Galveston Advisory Council's 2025-2028 Transportation Improvement Plan.The project was included as part of the draft TIP released April 3 to be considered for final approval following H-GAC's April 24 public comment deadline. The letter requests removal of the project from the TIP due to a lack of local funding as well as traffic safety concerns regarding pathways and school zones along Research Forest Drive.
