City of Montgomery residents will see an increase in their solid waste collection bills beginning Aug. 1 after the City Council approved a rate adjustment at its July 22 meeting.
What you need to know
Finance Director Maryann Carl said the 3.19% rate increase comes as part of an annual adjustment built into the city’s five-year contract with Waste Management. The change is based on a variety of economic indicators, including the consumer price index and fuel costs, Carl said.
“The only thing that's increasing is the Waste Management portion,” Carl said during the meeting. “The 5% administrative fee is not increasing.”
