Conroe City Council could take action July 9 on several items, including a holiday event contract renewal, a disannexation ordinance and rules tied to council member attendance during executive sessions.

The council is looking to repeal a resolution which requires council members to attend authorized executive sessions in person, as previously reported. The item was submitted by Mayor Duke Coon, according to the agenda.
Another item up for discussion is the annual renewal agreement with Southern Lighting for the Candy Cane Park Drive-Through Christmas Celebration. According to agenda documents, city staff is recommending approval of the first one-year renewal option with the company.
Southern Lighting would continue providing Christmas lights, decorations, character displays, staging, installation and post-event removal for the event. The renewal also includes several additions at no extra cost to the city, including perimeter lighting for the Activity Center, CK Ray Recreation Center and park administration buildings, another light tunnel, decorative elements and reconfigured display zones with new themed areas, according to agenda documents.
The tentative schedule includes a final display plan by Aug. 30, installation beginning the week of Nov. 22, event operations from Dec. 4-24 and removal by Jan. 3. Last year’s event drew more than 13,000 vehicles and 2,500 shuttle riders, according to the agenda item.
Also on the agenda
Council will also discuss possible action on an ordinance that would disannex and remove certain territory from Conroe’s corporate limits.
Also on the agenda, council is expected to receive a water well status update and consider the May 2026 monthly financial summary report.
The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. July 9 at Conroe City Hall, located at 300 W. Davis, Conroe.
