Pokémon Card Swap
Pokémon enthusiasts are invited to the R.F. Meador Branch Library to meet other players and trade cards. The swapping event is open to children ages 4-9 and tweens ages 10-12. While trading is encouraged, it is not required. All attendees must be registered for this event in advance.
Sourdough for Starters
The Montgomery County Family and Community Health Program is hosting a hands-on evening workshop where participants can learn about the history of sourdough, starters and some nutritional facts about the bread type. This class is designed for beginner and experienced bakers, and registration is required. Supplies are covered by ticket fees.
‘How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying’
The Players Theatre Company presents “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,” a Tony Award-winning musical comedy following J. Pierrepont Finch, a window washer who buys a how-to book for transforming himself into a corporate tycoon.
High Caliber Gun Show
Guests can view hundreds of displays of new and old guns as well as browse parts, ammo, books and knives. Guests under the age of 18 will not be admitted without a parent. Law enforcement officers who arrive in uniform will be admitted for free.
2026 Prevailing HOPE: A Gathering For Good
Hosted by Child Advocates of Montgomery County, the inaugural community luncheon will be held Aug. 26. The event is in dedication to the nonprofit organization’s mission to uplift children in crisis and recognize individuals who have overcome adversity to create lasting impact in their communities. Acclaimed aviator Amelia Rose Earhart will present the opening remarks as the keynote speaker before concluding with the announcement of the inaugural Women Who Prevail Award honoree.
Children’s Entrepreneur Market
The Children’s Entrepreneur Market presents youth of all ages the opportunity to sell homemade goods at a local market to help develop their social, business and entrepreneurial skills. Each participant will have a designated booth based on their age and what products they have on display. Market shoppers can expect to see interactive educational games, collectible dried flowers for home decor, wall accents, food items, artwork, handmade jewelry and clothing for sale.
Fall Montgomery County Home and Outdoor Living Show
Join Texwood Shows at the Lone Star Convention and Expo Center as they connect Montgomery County homeowners with contractors and companies specializing in home improvement. Among the showcase’s featured exhibitors are Floors for Living, Eldridge Roofing and Solar, Magnolia Patio and Pool and more. Guests can also browse seasonal decor, furniture and home goods for sale.
