On Sept. 30, the city of Willis experienced a water main break that led to a major decrease in water pressure citywide. Willis Mayor William Brown announced that the city will remain under a boil water notice until the issue is fully resolved. Willis ISD students have been encouraged to bring their own water bottles as the notice is in effect.

Latest update

According to a news release from Sarah Blakelock, WISD's chief communications officer, the city of Willis restored water service to Roark, Cannan, Hardy, Parmley, Lynn Lucas and Stubblefield campuses. The district expects water service to be restored to the remaining campuses very soon. Until then, students should avoid drinking from the water fountains. Sanitizer and bottled water will be available on each campus because student bathrooms lack water.

Mayor Brown announced on the city's official social media that state requirements dictate that water must be tested before the boil water notice can be lifted. Willis has submitted water samples to its labs and expects results on Oct. 2. Once the results are satisfactory, the boil water notice will be officially lifted.
