The cities of Conroe and Montgomery are installing new gateway entrances for both cities.
Conroe is installing its third gateway entrance in the downtown area at the intersection of Gladstell Street and Hwy. 75. The city already has two gateways: one at Dallas Street and Hwy. 105 and another at Hwy. 105 and Sixth Street.
The new gateway will include a sign that says, “Welcome to Conroe” and is dedicated to the Moore family.
“Carter Moore was the mayor here in the ’90s, and his family owned the Moore Brothers Lumber Company on that [intersection],” City Administrator Paul Virgadamo said. “They had a big impact on the community, so City Council agreed to name it after the family.”
