Austinites will be able to consume alcohol in parts of Waterloo Park, following the approval of a conditional use permit by Austin’s Planning Commission.
The vote happened on Sept. 28, the same day the parks and recreation board voted not to recommend alcohol be allowed at Barton Springs and Zilker Park.
The permit for Waterloo allows alcohol to be sold and consumed within three sections of the park: Lebermann Plaza, the food truck and deck area, and the Moody Amphitheater.
The areas will be coned off with natural landscaping and fences to demarcate where alcohol is and is not allowed.
