The Austin Community Foundation celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. The nonprofit was founded in 1977 to support philanthropic efforts locally. Since then, it has donated more than $300 million across Central Texas. The Foundation, which is located at 4315 Guadalupe Street, Ste. 300, has invested in many Austin landmarks, including the Umlauf Sculpture Garden, Amplify Austin's 24-hour day of giving, the Long Center and the Dell Seton Medical Center. In honor of this event, the Foundation is hosting a 40th anniversary celebration on Oct. 18 at the Long Center from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The party is free and open to the public, but RSVP is required here by Oct. 4. 512-472-4483. www.austincf.org
