Transit-oriented development keeps coming to Austin's east side. Platform, an upcoming mixed-use development near Capital Metro's MLK Jr. MetroRail station, opened a permanent leasing office and its first set of apartments today, according to a public relations representative for the project. The project joins Cityline at MLK Station and Endeavor Real Estate Group's Plaza Saltillo development as upcoming mixed-use developments in East Austin that are adjacent to Capital Metro rail stations. Platform features 355 apartments—with studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom floor plans—and townhomes. Amenities include three pools, an outdoor kitchen, courtyards, a gaming lounge, private work spaces and a fitness center. The pet-friendly community also features a 24-hour off-leash dog park with access to local trails and parks. Ten-thousand square feet of street-level retail space is currently being leased. Houndstooth Coffee is among the project's committed tenants, according to a news release. It will be the coffee shop's third Austin location. The remaining retail space will be divided into small units fit for galleries, studios, boutiques or creative offices.
