Austin ISD District news A task force formed by AISD to evaluate cost-cutting options presented a list of suggestions Jan. 7 that included adjusting attendance boundaries and closing schools. AISD issued its own recommendations Dec. 10 with 91 possible budget reductions over the next three years. AISD Chief of Business and Operations Nicole Conley Johnson said the deficit is due to increased recapture payments to the state of Texas and a decrease in district enrollment. Without making reductions, district staff anticipates running at a deficit of more than $30 million in future years.
