A new Mediterranean restaurant with Israeli influences is opening in East Austin this spring.
Ezov—whose namesake comes from the Hebrew name for hyssop, a flowering plant used in the spice blend za’atar—will feature a shareable menu that changes with the seasons.
Executive Chef Berty Richter said Ezov will be inspired by Tel Aviv nights, with a fun, lighthearted vibe.
“The menu will draw inspiration from the markets of Texas and Israel, specifically the Galilee region, which is known for its abundance of lush greens, rich [agriculture] and diversity of cultures, including Druze, Bedouin, Christian and Muslim Arabs whose cuisines and traditions heavily influence the culinary richness of the region,” Richter said in a press release.
Ezov will mark the eighth concept from Austin-based Emmer & Rye Hospitality Group—which own TLV, Hestia, Canje and others—and Richter’s third pursuit as an executive chef in Texas.
