Founder and executive chef Michael Fojtasek opened Olamaie in August 2014 following a series of pop-up dinners, according to the restaurant's website.
Named after his grandmother, mother and daughter, the farm-to-table restaurant became known for contemporary Southern cuisine built on produce from local farms and meat from Texas ranchers—and for its buttermilk biscuits, served warm with whipped honey butter and sea salt, according to the Michelin Guide.
Dinner is served as a four-course menu for $175 per person, as stated on the restaurant’s website.
Fojtasek was a James Beard Award finalist for Best Chef: Southwest in 2018, 2019 and 2020 and one of Food & Wine magazine's Best New Chefs in 2015, according to the restaurant's website. Chef de cuisine Amanda Turner, a James Beard semifinalist for Emerging Chef in 2022, leads the kitchen.
