Designs for the latest in a trend of sky bridges being built in Austin are set to be unveiled today. The under-construction Fairmont Austin, 101 Red River St., Austin, will feature the 33-foot elevated "canopy walk" connecting the hotel with the Austin Convention Center. The $6 million project will be constructed by mid-May, according to a news release. Details will be revealed at a Real Estate Council of Austin luncheon on Waller Creek today. The walkway will enable Fairmont Austin hotel guests and the public to catch a glimpse of Waller Creek while traveling to and from the second level of the convention center. Renderings of the sky bridge feature an open-air, winding path over Waller Creek. The $370 million, 1,048-room Fairmont Austin is expected to be the largest hotel in Austin when it is fully built next year.
