Duck Camp Hunt and Fish Outfitters
The flagship store held an opening-day celebration in April with live music and free drinks. Duck Camp sells tops, bottoms, outerwear, headwear, fishing gear, totes and camo.
Walter's Tavern sport bar
The owners of Freddo, a coffee shop in South Austin, introduced additional owners to reopen the business as a sports bar in February. Walter's Tavern now offers a full bar and kitchen until midnight and continues to serve coffee.

Umlauf Sculpture Garden and Museum
This year marks the sculpture garden and museum’s 35th anniversary, according to a news release. The organization’s leaders, supporters and visitors celebrated the anniversary with food, drink and entertainment at its annual Garden Party on April 16.
Closings
Sfingiday
Store owner Christine Olson announced plans to close Sfingiday, a local artisan and gift shop in Austin. The store initially opened on South Lamar in 2022, as the brand expanded from Seattle. The store doesn’t have a definite closing date, according to its Instagram, though the lease is up in early July.
South Congress Hotel
“The living room of South Congress Avenue” will close its doors to guests in early May for a comprehensive renovation, according to Daryl Gomersall, South Congress Hotel’s general manager. The hotel will reopen as The Standard in Spring 2027.
Half Price Books
Half Price Books on South Lamar closed last month and will operate from a temporary location while constructing a new permanent store. The bookstore will move to 2607 S. First St., Austin, with an expected opening later this year, said media representative Emily Bruce.
