Commercial real estate firm Trammell Crow Company is developing Block 71, a 1.75-acre city block owned by the University of Texas and bordered by West Seventh, Colorado, West Sixth and Lavaca streets downtown. The site is set to become a 36-story mixed-use tower. At a Nov. 27 city of Austin Design Commission meeting, the architecture firm behind the project, Page, presented its plans for the space, which include restoring the former U.S. post office Claudia Taylor Johnson Hall into a food hall.
