Former The University of Texas at Austin basketball player and NBA player Mo Bamba opened a new card shop in West Campus. Card collectors can find football, baseball, basketball, soccer and hockey trading cards, as well as Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece and Magic: The Gathering.

Austin Sports Club
Lobos Hospitality and Boardroom Hospitality partnered to open Austin Sports Club, a new dining and entertainment hub in downtown. The club will feature American cuisine, including chilled lobster rolls, ribeye and grilled branzino, as well as a lineup of signature cocktails.

The Watershed
A new all-day drinks spot is now open in Clarksville. The Watershed combines a beverage program, a food truck and a communal gathering space on one property. The business is home to Grisette, serving up coffee, natural wines and beer. Visitors can also dine on food from Claudia Willis Villegas at her food truck: Muy Yum.

1 Hotel Austin
The hotel brings 252 guest rooms, including 60 luxury suites, restaurants, a wellness spa and additional amenities, according to a news release. 1 Hotel Austin is also equipped with a special events space, offering over 10,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space.

Alteño Austin
Alteño Austin comes from James Beard-nominated Chef Johnny Curiel and Kasie Curiel of Fonda Fina Hospitality. The Michelin Recommended restaurant concept serves up Mexican flavor inspired by the Jaliscan Highlands. Dinner plates include queso fundido duck carnitas.

Fresh Monkee
Fresh Monkee is now open in downtown Austin, blending up high-fiber, low sugar protein shakes. The shake shop is located beneath The Shoal, an Austin apartment complex. Shakes include the Banana Split, made with milk, vanilla protein, coconut shreds, banana, pineapple and strawberries.

Closings
Valhalla
The owner of Austin bar and venue Valhalla announced its upcoming closure on Oct. 26, according to a social media post. The venue, located in Austin’s Red River Cultural District, started in November 2009 and has been home to local live music events, shows and festivals.

1972 Women’s Sports Pub
Austin’s dedicated women’s sports bar has closed, 1972 Women’s Sports Pub co-founders Debra Hallum and Marlene du Plessis announced on Instagram. The pub will have to relocate due to construction for Austin’s light rail project, though plans for a new location are still unclear.
