If you’re looking for activities to do in the Austin area this summer, check out six events happening this weekend, July 31-August 2.
Head over to Georgetown for an outdoor screening of “Zootopia 2,” travel to Bastrop for the city’s Homecoming & Rodeo or practice yoga in Hutto.
This list is not comprehensive and all events are subject to change.
Bastrop Homecoming & Rodeo
Community members can watch various events, including team roping, mutton bustin’ and 4D jackpot barrel and rodeo slack. There will also be live music performances, along with a parade, vendors and more.
Sunset Movie Series
The city will show “Zootopia 2” on the San Gabriel Park event lawn. Families are invited to bring a blanket, chairs and some snacks. Attendees can also enjoy free popcorn and activities. Frios, a frozen treat food truck, will be on-site.
Summer Stock Austin’s “Newsies”
Impact Arts’s summer program, Summer Stock Austin, will feature a production of Disney’s “Newsies.” The musical is based on the 1899 Newsboys Strike and follows the story of community organizing, resilience and camaraderie. The production will also include special events, including ASL interpretations and audio-described, sensory-friendly and Spanish-interpreted performances.
Landa Park Food Truck Party
The city of New Braunfels is hosting a food truck party to celebrate the end of Parks and Recreation Month. There will be a variety of food trucks at the event.
Hays County Back to School Health Fair
The Hays County Health Department is hosting its annual Back-to-School Health Fair to support local students and families as they prepare for the upcoming school year.
Yoga at the Gin
Attendees can find their flow at Yoga at the Gin, a yoga class hosted in Hutto’s historic Gin building.
