Cedar Park Police will close north- and southbound US 183 at 9 a.m. Oct. 19 to allow transport of large refrigeration units along the roadway, a city spokeswoman confirmed.
Two trucks carrying loads nearly 20 feet tall are scheduled to travel south from Liberty Hill along US 183 through Leander and Cedar Park and then west along RR 620 into Travis County.
The trucks were originally scheduled to travel along the route Oct. 18, but two trucks in the convoy did not arrive in Liberty Hill the night before as planned, a city spokeswoman said. Cedar Park police officials received notification from the traveling company shortly after 9 a.m. Oct. 18 when parts of US 183 were scheduled to close. The transport was rescheduled for Oct. 19 at 9 a.m.
The trucks will stop at every traffic signal so crews can lift the lights and cables, according to a statement from the city. Intersections and sections of the highway will be open prior to and after the trucks travel through, but traffic will not be able to pass the trucks in either direction. The staggered closure is expected to last at least two hours.
