1. North Bagdad Road

Crews are widening Bagdad Road from two to five lanes, including a center turn lane, between Old FM 2243 and CR 280. City of Leander Engineer Wayne Watts said city staff has reviewed 95 percent of the project’s plans and is awaiting feedback from the project’s engineer, H.W. Lochner Inc. The project will include new storm sewers, sidewalks and utilities on both sides of the road. Watts said as of May 6 the city is completing the final right of way acquisitions, and in August the project is expected to go out for bid.

Construction could begin in late September or early October. The project will take place in part of the Edwards Aquifer zone, and in order to protect it from potential contamination, the city is consulting with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
