The Rotary Club of Cedar Park plans to hold a special program Oct. 28 that will include information about local response and preparedness for the Ebola virus.
Jim Knight, a registered nurse and director of emergency services at Cedar Park Regional Medical Center, will provide a briefing on the readiness of CPRMC to handle an incident of Ebola in Cedar Park.
The Cedar Park Rotary Club meeting starts at 7 a.m. in classrooms No. 1 and No. 2 inside CPRMC, 1401 Medical Parkway, Cedar Park. Rotary Club Secretary Ken Burgess said breakfast is available for $10, and coffee without a meal costs $4. The meeting is free and open to the public.
The Ebola virus has killed about 4,500 people in Africa, according to the World Health Organization. On Oct. 8 the virus claimed its first American victim, Thomas Eric Duncan, in Dallas.
