Leander ISD will hold an anti-bullying mini-conference from 6–9 p.m. May 10 at Deer Creek Elementary School, 2420 Zeppelin Drive, Cedar Park.
The conference is designed to foster dialogue among parents, students and district staff regarding bullying and prevention issues. The LISD community is invited to attend, and reservations on the district's website are preferred.
"What we're looking for is feedback on what we need to do to improve the situation in Leander ISD," Superintendent Bret Champion said.
Participants will rotate through three topical discussion stations, including anti-bullying strategies currently in place at LISD campuses, general bullying prevention strategies and awareness issues, and how the district can improve its programs to foster a sustainable change in a campus culture. Champion said high school students from C-Squared—a group focused on promoting unity through kindness—will lead similar age-appropriate discussions with elementary school students in attendance.
