Leander ISD considering staff raises for 2013–14

The Leander ISD school board is considering raises for all of its employees, including teachers, administrative professionals, counselors as well as office, information technology and auxiliary staff.

Teachers, on average, would receive a 1.55 percent raise while employees in other departments would receive an average 1.69 percent increase in pay.

At its June 6 meeting, the board discussed attempts to keep pace with area school district pay increases.

"We believe this will keep us competitive," said Karie Lynn McSpadden, assistant superintendent for human resources.

First-year teachers with bachelor degrees in 2013–14 will receive $42,750 per year compared to $42,500 offered in 2012–13. The amount is higher than the proposed first-year salaries for area districts including Round Rock ISD ($42,500), Pflugerville ISD ($41,000) and Eanes ISD ($41,800), according to the district.

Proposed staff salary increases total $2,852,460. The board is scheduled to review staff raises on June 20.
