The Leander City Council on Sept. 6 approved a measure to highlight a different local nonprofit every other month, starting with Hill Country Community Ministries in September. Mayor Pro Tem Michell Cantwell, who led the initiative, said the goal is to raise citizens' awareness among those who would use and support selected nonprofit organizations. The Greater Leander Chamber of Commerce will participate by accepting nonperishable food donations at its office, 200 N. Brushy St., Leander.
