Councilmen, mayor sworn in to Cedar Park City Council

On May 22, Texas Supreme Court Justice Jeffrey Boyd swore in four members of the Cedar Park City Council.

Boyd administered the oath of office to newcomer Place 2 Councilman Corbin Van Arsdale, incumbent Mayor Matt Powell and incumbent councilmen Lowell Moore in Place 4 and Don Tracy in Place 6.

Van Arsdale replaces former Place 2 Councilman Mitch Fuller, who chose not to seek re-election. Van Arsdale is a former Texas state representative from 2003–09 and is vice president of Associated General Contractors in Texas. He was a member of the city's Parks & Recreation Advisory Board and served on the Community Development Corporation, or 4B board.

Moore defeated challenger Mo Jahadi in the May 10 election by about 20 percent of votes. Moore has been a Place 4 councilman since 2008 and was also a council member from 1998 to 2002. He owns a management consulting practice.

Powell and Tracy both ran uncontested in the 2014 election.

Powell has been mayor since 2012 and spent nine years on City Council after being elected in 2005. He owns a strategic communications consulting firm and served as Cedar Park's representative on the Capital Area Council of Governments.

Tracy is director of business operations and marketing at the Continuing Education Division of Austin Community College. He was also a member of the city's Economic Development Sales Tax Corporation, or 4A board. Tracy was first elected to Place 6 in June 2010.
