The comprehensive plan advisory committee is set to gather for the first time Feb. 21 to discuss how the city should grow during the next two decades.
Cedar Park's first comprehensive plans—which serve as blueprints for the city—were written in 1998 and 2006. Consulting firm Freese and Nichols Inc. will create an updated plan with input from committee members during 10 or 12 regular meetings, said Jennie Huerta, City of Cedar Park media and communications manager.
Committee members include citizens from City Council and other city boards, local businesses, homeowners associations, nonprofits, Leander ISD, Austin Community College and the Cedar Park Chamber of Commerce. Chamber President Tony Moline said he hopes to help represent the business community in Cedar Park during the upcoming discussions.
"I've been talking to people about what they want to see Cedar Park become," Moline said. "We should make sure we are steadily growing but not overreaching."
