Owner Ken Knowles built and opened the railroad in summer 2014 and expanded the attraction’s hours in March. He said more additions depend on Williamson County approving a new restroom building beside the parking lot. Restrooms would add electricity and plumbing to the railroad, which is located in Southwest Williamson County Regional Park in Leander.
Knowles said he hopes to open the golf attraction in spring 2016. Admission for the nine-hole, Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant miniature course will be separate from train tickets and could cost between $5 and $6.
“We’ll also have a small infinite loop for toddlers,” Knowles said. “They’ll play in basically one hole that goes around and around with multiple cups. … It’ll be good for all ages.”
In 2015, Knowles added safety features to the train and playscape, rearranged picnic tables and set up a credit card payment system for customers to buy tickets.
