After rains postponed the original grand opening Oct. 19, the city of Cedar Park's sculpture garden is set to debut Oct. 27.
The community is invited to the rescheduled grand opening event from 4–6 p.m. at the Cedar Park Recreation Center, 1435 Main St., Cedar Park. The sculpture garden features 12 art pieces by Central Texas artists in a range of media including bronze, steel and painted cedar.
The sculpture garden is the first major project of the Cedar Park Arts Advisory board, which was created in October 2009 and is composed of seven City Council appointees. The board's mission is to promote and encourage public art programs; further the development, awareness and interest in the visual arts; create an enhanced visual environment; and promote tourism and economic vitality.
"I'm very pleased with the selections and design of the sculpture garden," board Chairwoman Sheela Goodrich said in a statement. "It's exciting to see this project coming to fruition."
