Amy's China Cuisine

The restaurant opened in the 1890 Ranch shopping center in 2010 as China Cafe, but in May, Sanborn bought out her former business partner and changed the name to Amy's China Cuisine. The transition came with a few new menu items including more vegetarian options and a small collection of Singapore rice noodle dishes.

"My brother from California helped me with new dishes," she said. "But our original food was already good, so we kept the rest."

Any meal can be customized with different sauces and spices, added ingredients and gluten-free options. Sanborn said about half of her business comes from takeout orders and deliveries. A staff member will drive up to 10 miles to deliver a customer's order.

"I tried to make it more convenient for my customers. We have a lot of customers from Liberty Hill and Lago Vista, and I can't reach that far, but I try the best that I can," she said. "And now we do delivery for lunch, too. Before, we didn't, but now a lot of customers request it for businesses, and that's why I started doing lunch delivery."

Soups

Owner Amy Sanborn said her restaurant has the best soups in town. Lunch specials come with a choice of won ton, egg drop or hot and sour soup, but others are available. A cup-size serving costs $1.99, bowl serving $3.99 and a serving for two is $5.99.
