Fourteen years ago, a home school co-op evolved into Harbor Leadership Academy. Now, the school provides individualized education to around 40 students.
“We deal with those [students who] ... traditional education does not work for them,” said Deborah Baker, administrator, counselor and founder of Harbor Leadership Academy.
Baker said some students come temporarily to “find themselves, learn how to learn and then” go somewhere else, some are homeschoolers who attend for a day a week, while others graduate from Harbor Leadership Academy.
Qualified students may attend Austin Community College courses while school staff tutor and train them on campus.
