Being part of a system like Ascension Seton means the Cedar Park facility will have access to improved protocols, best practices, shared clinical experience and expanded support, Youssef said.

Staff at the hospital will also get more training and education opportunities, and they will have the chance for career growth with a larger organization, Youssef said.

Anne Duffy, Cedar Park City Council member, said Ascension Seton puts a focus on maintaining holistic health in the areas they operate, ensuring the right resources are in place when someone needs medical care.

“This partnership and this acquisition is going to be so valuable to our community and people’s long-term health,” she said.

What else?

The transition comes about two months after Ascension Seton announced in April it would be taking over the hospital.

Improving efficiency and expanding advanced medical services were goals mentioned at the time of the announcement, according to previous reporting.

At the time of the announcement, the Cedar Park facility had 126 beds and two 24/7 emergency departments.

Youssef said July 1 that there were no current plans to expand the facility, but he noted Ascension Seton is always looking at how to adapt to patient needs.
