To clear tight roadways for emergency vehicles and trash collection, the city of College Station is evaluating removing parking from four neighborhood streets.
The gist
City traffic engineer Nick Barrio told Community Impact the targeted roads are all very narrow and don’t accommodate street parking well. The areas included are:
Park Place area
Angus and Kerry streets
Dexter and George Bush drives
Referring to the roads, which range from 20 to 24 feet wide, Barrio said the priority is to create a better driving environment for residents and create more access for emergency vehicles if needed.
“We want to make things safer,” Barrio said. “We don’t want people to cross the street to get to a park and we don’t want solid waste around parking. Emergency access is also one of our biggest concerns.”
