During the week of July 20-24, construction of the “Big 6” highway will cause full and single-lane closures throughout Bryan-College Station.

What you need to know

  • July 20: full closure of the northbound mainlanes from Barron Road to Harvey Road, 7:30 p.m.-6:30 a.m.
    • All traffic will have to exit on Rock Prairie Road and re-enter south of Harvey Road.
    • All of the entrance ramps off of Barron Road, Harvey Mitchell Parkway, and Southwest Parkway will also be closed, along with the northbound mainlanes on William J. Bryan Parkway, Old Reliance Road and Martin Luther King Jr. Street.
  • July 21-22: full closure of the northbound mainlanes from Harvey Road to Texas Avenue, 7:30 p.m.-6:30 a.m.
    • All traffic will have to exit on Southwest Parkway and re-enter on Texas Avenue and Deacon Drive.
    • All of the ramps off of Harvey Road, Southwest Parkway, and Harvey Mitchell Parkway will also be closed, along with the northbound mainlanes on William J. Bryan Parkway, Old Reliance Road and Martin Luther King Jr. Street.
  • July 23: full closure of the southbound frontage road from Briarcrest Drive to University Drive, 8 p.m.-6:30 a.m.
    • All traffic will have to exit University Drive and re-enter north of Harvey Mitchell Parkway.
    • The southbound ramps of Briarcrest Drive, Harvey Road, and Southwest Parkway will also be closed.
  • July 24: single-lane closures of the southbound frontage road from Briarcrest Drive to University Drive, and University Drive and Harvey Road, 7:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m.
    • Both will be closed to set up traffic barriers, and both entrance ramps north of University Drive and Harvey Road will be closed.
What's next

The Texas Department of Transportation will be maintaining two open main lanes in each direction during construction. A majority of the work will be on the main lanes, along with the construction of temporary pavement and retaining walls.
