From live music to a family campout, check out this weekend’s roundup of events happening April 24-26. This list is not comprehensive, and events are subject to change.
‘The Curious Savage’
Stagecenter Theatre will host performances of “The Curious Savage,” a family-friendly stage production.
Overnight camping
The city of Bryan Parks & Recreation Department will host a family-friendly overnight campout featuring stargazing, campfire storytelling, s’mores, crafts, a showing of “RV,” and dinner and breakfast. Families will need to bring their own camping supplies, snacks, drinks and folding chairs or rent gear from Texas A&M Outdoor Adventures.
Movie night
Stage 12 at Brookshire Brothers will host an outdoor showing of the movie “Matilda.” Food and drinks will be available for purchase.
Book sale
The Friends of the Library will hold its spring book sale supporting the Bryan + College Station Public Library System.
Vietnam Era Hands-on History
Attendees will be able to visit the Museum of the American G.I. and explore an authentic tent camp, see military vehicles, ride in a historic M113 armored personnel carrier, and speak with historians and interpreters to learn about the men and women who served during the Vietnam War. The hands-on history displays will be held outdoors, and guests will also be able to tour the museum building.
Arbor Day
Community members can celebrate Arbor Day with the city of Bryan and Keep Brazos Beautiful through the planting of a large memorial tree, a hands-on opportunity to plant 10-15 native trees, educational activities and interactive activity tables for kids.
Wine & Roses Festival
The 42nd annual family-friendly festival will return to Messina Hof Estate Winery with wine tastings, shopping, a grape stomp competition, food, and interactive wine classes.
Starlight Music Series
The city of College Station’s Starlight Music Series will return with outdoor live music from Texan-born country artist William Beckmann and guest country artist Mike Ryan. Guests can bring refreshments and chairs or blankets.
Downtown Bryan Street & Art Fair
Destination Bryan will present the annual Downtown Bryan Street and Art Fair featuring artwork on display, live music from local musicians, art demonstrations, a craft zone for kids age 12 and younger, and wine tasting.
Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra
The Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra will present “Defying Gravity: Blockbuster Broadway” with songs from some of Broadway’s biggest hits.
