Aggie-owned and operated Citymax Pawn has expanded with another College Station store.
What's new?
The new location, across the street from Texas A&M University, is its third location in Aggieland.
Citymax chose the new location to be close to other shops and the university.
“It can be a little slower during the summer, but business doesn’t stop in Bryan,” Owner Eugene Sembera told Community Impact. "It always picks up for us during the school year.”
What Citymax offers
Citymax advertises purchasing gold, silver, bullion, jewelry and watches, but also buys items such as power tools and electronics.
Sembera said the business will “take a look at pretty much anything except smartphones.”
The pawn shop also offers layaway, loans and extensions.
The history
Sembera said he opened the first location in Bryan in 2023 with two of his friends after working at Cash America for over a decade.
“We all worked together and wanted to branch into owning our own store,” Sembera said. “We started out in Bryan and have continued with the now two locations in College Station."
Sembera’s father-in-law, who helped with the starting up of the business, has a deep connection to College Station and Texas A&M history.
“My father-in-law is Ed McKaughan, former Texas A&M quarterback in the 1960s,” Sembera said. “He helped us a lot when the business was first starting, so I’m thankful for that.”
Before you go
The Aggie-owned and operated business is open 9 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and closes at 5 p.m. on Saturdays.
