Bryan’s Aggie-owned record shop reopens in new location

Curious Collections, Bryan-College Station’s Aggie-owned record shop, is set to open its new “record garage” location Aug. 17. It had been operating for nearly a decade on Rosemary Drive.

Curious Collections has been in the process of moving to its new location in Bryan for months. As previously reported by Community Impact, the owners said they were grateful for almost 10 years on Rosemary, but were “keen on staying independent, while moving just one mile up the road and transforming a vintage service station into an outdoor garage setting.”

Owner Mary Jean said it has been a fast two months for the move, but she expects her customers to love the new location, along with better street visibility and more parking. She said the community should also look forward to more additions in the future.

“Our move was phase one and we’ll continue to remodel the shell as we operate,” Jean said. “We’re looking to add a cafe with drinks and possibly a bar and patio sometime next year, but we have to get everything figured out with permits.”

While the official opening of the new location is in August, Jean said the business is planning an event for the 10th anniversary and grand reopening in October.

What’s next

According to Jean, Curious Collections is the only vinyl record shop within 100 miles to do official listening parties for albums before official release, and she said the shop has many to look forward to. With students returning to Texas A&M University in late August, Jean is looking forward to students and residents visiting the new location.
