Georgian cuisine restaurant Bread Boat is coming to Houston in early September, officials confirmed. This is the eatery’s first location outside of Austin, Texas, where it is based.
Plans for the restaurant’s soft opening indicate that it will open along Richmond Avenue on Sept. 1, followed by an official grand opening event Oct. 1, officials said.

Bread Boat offers patrons an open-kitchen experience aligned with foods that hone in on the flavors of Georgia’s bold culinary heritage.
Its menu is curated around traditional khachapuri, a freshly baked boat-shaped bread filled with a blend of cheese, butter and egg yolk. It also features chef-driven creations like the Beef Boat, Chicken Boat and Smoky Bean Boat, according to the restaurant's website.
Also listed online, other specialties from the restaurant include Soup-Kharcho, a beef stew flavored with aromatic spices, and Pkhali, a sampler platter composed of vegetables, walnuts and pomegranate seeds. Vegetarian pies and boats are also available.
