Owner Robyn Atlas opened Cedar Street Pilates in Bellaire in early January with an emphasis on small, community-focused classes.
At a glance
Atlas said she was previously leasing a space in River Oaks, but after speaking with her mom and family, decided to open a new studio in Bellaire inside the former Big Frog Custom T-Shirts store.
"I wanted to create a space for all bodies," she said. "I've always said all bodies need Pilates. I wanted it to be community-focused with small groups—how Pilates is meant to be practiced."
Her studio offers five reformers and one instructor per five clients, Atlas said.
The details
Cedar Street Pilates offers a variety of classes, including:
- Classical Pilates reformer: A meticulously structured session that combines precise reformer exercises with classical Pilates principles to enhance strength, flexibility and mind-body connection
- Dynamic reformer: Designed for more experienced bodies, these sessions focus on core strength, flexibility and body awareness
- Pilates for all bodies: Adapted for younger clients, this class focuses on boosting flexibility and building strength
Atlas said that due to the smaller group size, all classes can be adapted to fit a variety of customer skill levels.
Something to note
Prices for small group classes start at $45 for a single drop-in class, while a 10-class pack membership is available for $350. Private sessions are also available at $135 for 60 minutes.
