Spared from Hurricane Laura, League City to reopen recreation facilities this weekend

In preparation for a potential hit from Hurricane Laura, on Aug. 25, League City closed all facilities and departments—except the Public Works Department and emergency responders—through Aug. 31.

With League City spared the brunt of the storm's destruction, the city plans to reopen some facilities over the weekend.

Helen Hall Library will be open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Aug. 29 and 1-5 p.m. Aug. 30.

The Hometown Heroes Recreation Center will reopen Aug. 29 from 1-6 p.m.

Walker Pool will be open Aug. 29 and 30 from 1-6 p.m. Registration for next week's classes starts at Aug. 31 at 9 a.m. for residents and noon for nonresidents.

Water aerobic classes will resume the evening of Aug. 31, and indoor classes will resume Sept. 1.
