Seabrook Police Department receives donation to purchase active shooter response equipment

The Rotary Club of Seabrook recently donated $8,000 to the Seabrook Police Department, which will allow for the purchase of new simulation guns to train for active shooter scenarios.

The simulation guns purchased are an essential part of the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training program, which is a training program that, since 2002, has prepared nearly 400,000 first responders nationwide to respond to active shooter situations, according to ALERRT’s website.

These simulation guns are used to train officers in physical simulation training scenarios, which commonly take place in public facilities and schools, according to an April 18 release from the city.

The Seabrook Police Department plans to create a unified front with other area departments, such as the Lakeview Police Department. This includes constructing a standard response system, and using joint training and equipment to optimize response times, according to the release.
