Seabrook approves $105K contract for citywide wayfinding, gateway signage

Seabrook City Council approved a $105,000 contract with MERJE, an environmental graphic design and wayfinding firm, at its Oct. 20 meeting to design citywide wayfinding, gateway and facility signage.

The overview

The contract will cover sign locations across the city, and will include the following throughout Seabrook’s commercial districts, including Old Seabrook:

• Gateway signage

• Vehicular and pedestrian directional signs

• Parking signage

• Informational kiosks

• Parks and trails signage

MERJE has done signage projects for Downtown Dallas, Downtown Austin, Fredericksburg, Denton, Montgomery and Frisco, among other cities.

The cost

The scope of services includes wayfinding analysis, schematic design, signage programming, design development, structural engineering, final bid documentation, orientation mapping and bid review assistance, according to city documents.

The project is anticipated to be funded by Seabrook’s Economic Development Corp. Now that the contract has been approved by City Council, the expense will be presented to the EDC board for ratification at a later date, according to city documents.
