League City City Council will hear the final reading of the city’s proposed $333 million budget and a $0.36355 tax rate per $100 valuation of a home for fiscal year 2026-27.
City Council will vote on whether to officially adopt both the tax rate and budget. City Council unanimously approved the budget’s first reading at its Aug. 25 meeting.
What residents need to know
If the tax rate is approved as is it will mark the 12th consecutive year the city’s property tax rate has decreased.

The city is proposing a $333 million budget, with public safety as the single largest operational cost, according to city documents.
The League City Police Department accounts for around $30 million of the general fund’s expenses.
Also on the agenda
City Council will also consider whether to grant a special use permit to allow for a gas station to be located along the south side of League City Parkway, east of Dakota Avenue and west of Highway 3, according to city documents. The land the gas station would be located is zoned for general commercial use.
