Candidates Letitia Plummer and Orlando Sanchez are running to lead Harris County government.

Plummer, a Democrat and Sanchez, a Republican, will face off in November’s general election to become Harris County’s next judge.
The judge oversees the Harris County Commissioners Court, which governs the county. Among other administrative duties, the court sets the budgets and tax rates for the county and its related departments, such as the Harris County Flood Control District.
The court and county judge are responsible for about five million residents who live in Harris County.
Plummer defeated county judge candidate Annise Parker in the March primary, where voters narrowed their options to one candidate per political party. Sanchez also defeated his opponent, Warren A. Howell, in March. The successful candidate will replace sitting County Judge Lina Hidalgo, who has held office since 2019.
Early voting begins Oct. 19 and runs through Oct. 30, according to the Texas Secretary of State's website. Election day is Nov. 3 and polls will be open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
Registered voters can cast their ballots at any polling location during early voting and election day.
