League City Mayor Pat Hallisey, who tested positive for COVID-19 nearly two weeks ago Nov. 17, is on the mend, City Manager John Baumgartner said.
Additionally, League City City Council Member Larry Millican has tested positive for COVID-19, but he, too, is recovering. City officials have since been tested for the coronavirus, and the results came back negative, city officials said.
Baumgartner spoke to Hallisey on Thanksgiving and Nov. 28. Hallisey sounded better on Thanksgiving than he had since testing positive, and he sounded even better by Nov. 28, Baumgartner said.
Originally, Hallisey went home with a sore throat but was later admitted to the intensive care unit at a local hospital, where he was put on oxygen, which he is still on. He was then transferred to the intermediate care unit, which is for patients in critical condition but who do not need as much attention as those in the ICU, Baumgartner said.
