Walking along Bradford Avenue in Kemah, visitors can head up the steps and through the doors of MicheLadies, a women-owned michelada bar.
Customers are surrounded by vibrant colors, neon lights and a menu with a large selection of michelada flavors to choose from.
What’s special about it?
With options ranging from the “Surf and Turf,” which is a savory option with both shrimp and beef jerky, to the “Spicy Pickle” or fruit-flavored micheladas, co-owner Kassandra Cantu felt it was important to craft a drink for every taste bud with an opportunity for customers to become adventurous.

“I tend to make new things monthly and I try to switch up some drinks and flavors for the micheladas,” Cantu said. “I try to keep it fresh and new so people can kind of try different things that they’re not used to.”
Customers can also choose to build their own michelada, with an option to choose a base flavor and different toppings.

How it started
Cantu and her sister started MicheLadies from home in late 2015, and began selling micheladas at outdoor events throughout the early 2020s. After steadily growing, Cantu and her sister decided to take the leap and open their first brick-and-mortar store in 2025.
“It was a slow build, and then finally it was either go all in or just stop,” Cantu said. “So we just decided, ‘Well, let’s see what happens and let’s open up our own little shop.’”
Looking ahead
As she continues to try out new drink customizations, Cantu said she will remain focused on spreading joy to customers through every sip.
“The most rewarding part is seeing people really enjoying it,” Cantu said. “That keeps me going.”
